The YMCA of San Diego County offers a one-year complimentary family membership to each Habitat Partner Family, which includes a vast array of activities and programs to nourish the spirit, mind, and body.
In 2011, San Diego Habitat for Humanity established an endowment with The San Diego Foundation. The charitable fund assures that the mission of Habitat for Humanity to build simple, decent and affordable homes for ownership by local families in need will continue in perpetuity.
It is the mission of GRID Alternatives to make renewable energy technology and job training accessible to underserved communities; they bring together community partners, volunteers and job trainees to implement solar power and energy efficiency for low-income families. GRID Alternatives has provided more than 30 San Diego County Habitat for Humanity homeowners with a source of clean, local energy, providing energy cost savings and long term benefits for the entire community.
The Balboa Park Cultural Partnership provides free annual Explorer family passes to Habitat partner families who request them. The Explorer annual pass provides general admission to each of 17 Balboa Park museums for a full year. These passes are being made available to under served, economically disadvantaged and at-risk families in the community that express interest in experiencing the cultural institutions of Balboa Park, and who might not have the opportunity to do so otherwise.
