Every donation helps build strong and stable communities.

Support the store that builds homes.

When you donate your excess household goods, building materials, and overstock to the ReStore, you’ll get the satisfaction of knowing your donations helped support local families — and didn’t end up in a local landfill. Plus, all of your donations are tax-deductible.

Why donate to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore?

All materials used to build Habitat homes are purchased new. Items donated to the ReStore are sold to the public — at a great price — to generate money to purchase building materials that future Habitat homeowners use to build the new homes they will buy!

By selling new and gently used donated products at a discounted price, the ReStores earn funds that are used by Habitat for Humanity in our efforts to build homes, communities, and hope throughout San Diego County. Funds support our construction and repair projects and a small percentage helps pay for basic office expenses.

Absolutely! You will be provided a donation receipt that you can use for tax deduction purposes. Please note that Habitat cannot legally determine a value for your items.

No. We ask for donations to be in good, working condition, ready to be sold as-is.

On occasion, we must refuse donations based on their condition and whether or not we have enough floor space for them at that time. A good rule of thumb is to ask yourself if you would buy the item from a resale store — if you wouldn’t, chances are that someone else wouldn’t. We make every effort to notify donors of refusal before the pickup appointment is scheduled, and encourage you to reach out to us at (619) 241-2221 or dispatch@sandiegohabitat.org before dropping off your items.

Please check out a list of other local community organizations
here that may be able to accept your item.

You may drop off donations at our area ReStore locations Tuesday through Saturday between 9am and 3pm.

For standard pickups, our trucks pick up donations Tuesday through Saturday between 10am and 3pm. Drivers will notify you with a telephone call 30 minutes prior to arrival.

Priority pickups with ReSupply, our partner organization, work a bit differently and operate on an as-needed basis. They’ll be in touch with more information after your pickup is scheduled.

We do not charge a fee for our donation pickup service, However, we gladly accept donations to help cover the costs of keeping our automotive fleet in good working order — your donation is tax-deductible and we will provide you a receipt.

Our partner organization, ReSupply, does charge a fee for priority pickup service. Please click here to learn more.

Due to COVID-19, we are unable to enter your home to retrieve items. Please have them ready for us outside at ground level. (We cannot carry items down elevators or stairs.) Curbside is preferable, but you may have your item in a ground-floor garage that is accessible.

We have a partnership with ReSupply, a veteran-owned company that coordinates priority donation pickup for a fee. If you need assistance moving or disassembling items, ReSupply has the resources to help you.

You do not need to be present for a pickup if you can leave the donation, clearly marked for Habitat, in a safe, accessible place.
