Jannette recently adopted her three nieces – Kymora (4), Tiffany (3), and Iyannah (2).  For the past year they have lived in a small apartment in a dangerous neighborhood in San Diego. Local pizza restaurants will not deliver to her apartment complex. There is a lot of yelling and unsupervised children in this complex. Jannette has witnessed strange men loitering around the apartment complex and does not allow the girls to play outside. The street outside the apartment is very busy and dangerous. She longs for a safe place where the girls can grow up and thrive.

The apartment is very small and the family does not have room for a kitchen table. The apartment management does not respond to maintenance requests. Jannette currently has several maintenance issues that have been reported, such as non-functioning lights and fans, but have not been addressed. Despite this, Jannette keeps her apartment immaculate and tries to create a stable home for her nieces.

Jannette is excited to begin her sweat equity hours and to purchase her Habitat home!
