Roberto and Isabel have been married for 24 years, and are the proud parents of Guadalupe (23), Robert Jr. (20) and Diana (12). Roberto works at the City of San Diego as a heavy truck driver and loves getting to see different areas of the region while he works. Isabel is a yard duty assistant at National School District, a perfect job for her, as she loves working with children.

Roberto has had health struggles for the past 12 years, but he doesn’t let that stop him from being the best husband and dad he can be. He describes his family as a united front who take care of each other and try to help others in their community when they can. Spending time together is a favorite pastime for the family — they can often be seen walking to the park or on the pier.

Guadalupe loves to draw and attends college. Robert, Jr. enjoys playing soccer and is attending technician school. Diana is in the seventh grade. Her favorite subject is science, and she loves to draw and color. She has a learning disability, but doesn’t let that stop her from following in her older siblings’ footsteps, earning a reading award at school. Roberto and Isabel were at the school assemblies when all three of the children’s names were read, and it made them feel very proud and excited. Education, college, and good careers for the children is a priority in the house — Roberto doesn’t want them to struggle the way he had to.

Roberto and Isabel admit that tears were shed when they received the news that they were approved to purchase their Habitat home, and are looking forward to realizing their dream of a better life for themselves and their children.
