San Diego Habitat for Humanity is thrilled to have recently completed our Thrivent Faith Build in El Cajon, CA, built in partnership with Thrivent Financial. Under one collective mission, over 20 Christian churches in San Diego came together to build hope and community. They partnered with Thrivent Financial and San Diego Habitat to donate time, labor, and resources. The combined efforts created a strong community between participating Christian groups and bolstered an incalculable spirit of generosity, togetherness, and faith in action.
Delia, an administrative associate for Rady Children’s Hospital and a single mother to her fourteen-year-old son, is the new Habitat homeowner who purchased the house that this amazing effort built. Delia is the first member of her family to earn a Bachelor’s Degree and plans to continue to work toward her Master’s Degree in social work. Her dream of owning her first home, Delia says, “will allow [her] and [her] son the space to feel like [they] belong and can feel secure that there will be stability for both of [them].”
San Diego Habitat for Humanity is honored to have created a home and a community with Thrivent Financial and local Christian churches and we are all ecstatic to welcome the Delia and her son to their new home.
