Habitat works in many ways to support our community’s ever-growing need for safe, stable shelter. In addition to the construction of new homes, we also offer repairs to existing ones, extending not only the longevity of the home but the quality of life for its occupants.

This past month, we finished up exterior improvements at Marielena’s home in southeastern San Diego. Her existing fence was rotted and had fallen over into the neighbors’ yards during San Diego’s unusually stormy weather, so our Housing and Community Services team got to work. As part of our Home Preservation program, volunteers repaired and stained over 70 feet of fencing, rebuilt three gates, lowered backyard fences that were obstructing views, and built two garden boxes.

A huge thanks to the 23 volunteers who contributed over 185 collective hours of work to make it happen!
