On September 28th, The Home Depot Foundation hosted a build event for over 600 volunteers comprised of vendors and team members from their Garden Department. In just under 4 hours, the group framed 11 homes for San Diego Habitat’s community in Logan Heights and built and painted 25 playhouses for children of local military families.

One of the 11 homes will belong to Reyneil — a veteran and single father who is thrilled to have the opportunity of affordable homeownership. Reyneil was at the event, working side-by-side with The Home Depot volunteers on his own home, and the homes of his neighbors. The Home Depot Foundation and Team Depot work to improve the homes and lives of U.S. military veterans and their families and aid communities affected by natural disasters. This is one of many events they will have this year throughout the country. Their hard work was accompanied by a grant of $245,000. San Diego Habitat is honored to have such a generous and hard-working partner!
