San Diego Gas & Electric’s Energy Showcase program recently recognized six entities in the San Diego region for their leadership in energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. For the 15th consecutive year, the program honored local organizations that made exceptional efforts to reduce their carbon footprint and increase conservation of resources.

San Diego Habitat was recognized — along with Viasat, MC Properties, Bartell Hotels, the City of La Mesa, and the Palomar Community College District — for building homes to Energy Star standards and adopting energy-efficiency measures including solar energy, energy-efficient lighting, and electric vehicle charging stations.

“These winners set a great example for others to follow. They’ve demonstrated that investing in clean and innovative technologies not only help the environment but also benefit the bottom line,” said Tashonda Taylor, vice president of customer operations for SDG&E, in a statement. “Ultimately, their efforts help our region move closer to meeting California’s ambitious climate goals and in turn, create a sustainable future.”

Thank you, SDG&E, for being a generous community partner and for this honor!
