San Diego Habitat for Humanity’s annual Women Build mobilizes volunteers, raises $100,000 and sparks joy across the region

Escondido, CA — San Diego Habitat for Humanity hosted its annual Women Build event, bringing together more than 100 volunteers, corporate teams, Habitat homeowners, and staff united by a shared goal: building community and hope.

Over the course of the event, held at Stone Brewing in Escondido, participants rolled up their sleeves to design and construct 13 playhouses for families, community organizations, and childcare centers across San Diego County. These colorful playhouses sparked joy for children and created safe spaces for play and imagination.

Women Build 2025 also generated an incredible $100,000 to further Habitat’s mission of making affordable homeownership possible for more hardworking San Diegans, while also supporting its critical home preservation efforts

“This event is a powerful reminder of what happens when our community comes together with determination and compassion,” said Kwofi Reed, San Diego Habitat for Humanity President and CEO. “Through Women Build, volunteers and partners not only create something tangible for children and families to enjoy, but they also help us build a future where everyone has a safe and stable place to call home.”

The event also featured a friendly playhouse competition. Congratulations to this year’s winners:

1st Place: U.S. Bank — Farmhouse Playhouse

2nd Place: Onyx Building Group — Magic School Bus Playhouse

3rd Place: U.S. Bank — Farmers Market Playhouse

San Diego Habitat extends its deepest gratitude to event sponsors U.S. Bank, Stone Brewing, Watkins Wellness, ASML, Guild Mortgage, Onyx Building Group, and C.W. Driver for their generous support. A special thanks goes to Stone Brewing Escondido for hosting the event.

To date, Women Build has engaged more than 2,400 volunteers who have helped construct or renovate 65 homes, built and designed dozens of playhouses for children, and generated more than $1.3 million to advance affordable homeownership in San Diego County.
