San Diego Habitat for Humanity in Search of Future Homeowners in Escondido
Partner with Habitat and make the dream of homeownership a reality

SAN DIEGO, CA – Many hardworking families in San Diego County are living paycheck to paycheck in substandard and overcrowded housing. San Diego Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that everyone in our region should have a safe, healthy home they can afford. If you or someone you care about has always dreamed of becoming a homeowner but thought it was impossible, please join San Diego Habitat for Humanity for an informative virtual homeownership orientation.

Habitat’s virtual homeownership orientation will be available between Monday, July 25 and Sunday, July 31. Interested parties can learn about the organization, the homeownership program requirements, and how to apply.

People can submit their contact information at go.sandiegohabitat.org/homeownership to receive information about how to register for the virtual orientation, which will be provided on-demand so that it can be watched at the viewer’s convenience during the allotted timeframe. Orientation details will be distributed to those on the interest list on Monday, July 25.

San Diego Habitat for Humanity is currently building ten affordable homes in Escondido – located on El Norte Parkway – that will be offered for purchase by qualified buyers. Applicants who are selected will be invited to partner with Habitat to help build and buy their own home, which will be sold to them at an affordable price not greater than 30% of the buyer’s household income.

The homes being offered for sale are 1,250 square foot duplex-style homes with three bedrooms, two and a half baths, and attached garages.

To qualify for a Habitat home, you must:

  • have a demonstrated need for improved housing
  • be willing to partner with Habitat to build your own home
  • be able to pay an affordable mortgage
  • currently reside in San Diego County
