San Diego Habitat for Humanity Breaks Ground on its Newest Community in Escondido
Project to provide affordable homeownership opportunities for10 local families in need of improved housing

[This event is being held with limited personnel on site. We will stream the event live on our Facebook page for the public to view. Media is invited to attend Facebook event or on-site in Escondido.]

WHAT: San Diego Habitat for Humanity is pleased to be breaking ground at its newest affordable housing community on El Norte Parkway in Escondido.

The houses will be sold to local families earning between 50% and 80% of the Area Median Income, or about $85,000 for a family of four. These future homeowners commit to help build their own homes, and the homes of their neighbors, as part of their partnership with Habitat for Humanity. Their mortgages will be no more than 30% of their gross monthly household income.

The 1,300 square foot, 3-bedroom/2.5-bathroom duplex-style homes will feature attached 2-car garages, private yards, drought-tolerant landscaping, and energy efficient appliances and plumbing fixtures.

These new homes are possible due to the generosity of the City of Escondido and the support of many donors and investors.

The first step in Habitat for Humanity’s homeownership process is attendance at a homeownership orientation. The date for this community is yet to be announced but interested parties can visit Habitat’s website — www.sandiegohabitat.org — to add their name to a list of people that will be notified when that meeting is scheduled.

This is Habitat’s seventh affordable housing community in the City of Escondido. Completion is expected by November 2023.
