Nissan Donates Frontier Truck to San Diego Habitat for Humanity
Donated vehicle will support the building of affordable homes for ownership in San Diego County

April 27, 2023 (SAN DIEGO) — As part of a long-standing partnership with Nissan, San Diego Habitat for Humanity received a donation for the purchase of a Nissan Frontier pickup truck that it will use to support its ReStore operations. The donation is part of Nissan’s $800K national partnership renewal to support local Habitat affiliates across the U.S.

Habitat’s San Diego County ReStores are discount home improvement resale centers that are open to the public. ReStores sell donated new and gently-used building materials and home improvement items to support the building of affordable homes to be purchased by local families in need of improved shelter.

“Nissan is deeply committed to the areas where our customers, employees, and dealers live and work, and our partnership with Habitat for Humanity is one way that we invest in these communities,” said Travis Parman, vice president, Corporate Communications, Nissan North America, Inc. “Our employees, working alongside our partners at Habitat and the future homeowners, are able to directly improve their cities and the lives of others.”

Nissan has contributed more than $20 million to Habitat nationally since the partnership began in 2005 when Nissan donated 50 trucks and mobilized employees to assist in home building following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in the Gulf Coast region. Nissan has continued its support through the years by donating an additional 160 vehicles to support construction activities and disaster recovery efforts. Furthermore, Nissan’s employees have contributed more than 112,400 volunteer hours working alongside future homeowners in communities across the U.S.

“A reliable and powerful fleet is essential to the success of the Habitat for Humanity ReStores”, said Kwofi Reed, President and CEO at San Diego Habitat for Humanity. “We still utilize a truck that Nissan donated to our affiliate nearly 15 years ago, a testament of the workhorse that Nissan trucks are. We’re so pleased to receive this donation that will help us achieve our mission of building better life stories for local families.”
