Lowe’s Grants $35,800 to San Diego Habitat for Humanity to Complete Neighborhood Revitalization Projects Across San Diego County

San Diego, CASan Diego Habitat for Humanity has marked a significant milestone in its mission to uplift communities through the completion of vital neighborhood revitalization work, made possible by a generous $35,800 grant from Lowe’s. This transformative funding has been instrumental in providing essential exterior and interior home improvements for four local seniors and their families, ensuring safer and more comfortable living spaces.

The funding from Lowe’s is part of a two-year, $6 million donation to Habitat for Humanity International to support home repair and preservation efforts in owner-occupied homes. Through this partnership, more than 75 local Habitat affiliates will complete more than 480 projects this year to address critical health and safety issues in homes across the U.S. Since 2003, Lowe’s and Habitat have worked together to help more than 18,000 people build or improve a place to call home.

The renovations encompassed a range of improvements, including fencing repairs, the installation of drought-tolerant landscaping, a bathroom remodel, and critical accessibility enhancements. These necessary updates were made under the umbrella of Habitat’s Neighborhood Revitalization (NR) program’s Critical Home Repair initiative. This initiative strategically targets accessibility improvements, mobility modifications, weatherization enhancements, and other vital repairs necessary for families to maintain their homes and for seniors to age in place with dignity and comfort.

Two of the recipient families are veteran households, highlighting San Diego Habitat’s commitment to supporting those who have served our nation. Additionally, all the families benefiting from these repairs are low-income households, emphasizing the organization’s dedication to addressing housing disparities and providing support where it is needed most.

Kwofi Reed, CEO of San Diego Habitat for Humanity, expressed gratitude to Lowe’s for their pivotal role in making these critical repairs a reality. “We are incredibly thankful to Lowe’s for their continued partnership and support of our mission. This grant has allowed us to create healthier, safer home environments that will have a lasting, positive change in the lives of the people we serve,” said Reed.

Lowe’s longstanding partnership with San Diego Habitat for Humanity aligns with the shared goal of creating positive impacts in local communities. The completion of these neighborhood revitalization projects underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in fostering accessible and affordable housing solutions.
