Habitat may work around the corner from you, but we also work around the world, and we need your help!
Habitat for Humanity International's Global Village program offers volunteers the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in a foreign country, gaining an inside perspective into the culture, while working with the local community to build safe, affordable housing for families in need of adequate shelter. This fall, San Diego Habitat for Humanity is hosting its first-ever Global Village trip to Chiapas, Mexico!
What You Will Do
As a Global Village volunteer, you may work on house construction or renovations. Trip itineraries are balanced with plenty of work, rest and free time. Most trips are seven days with five days of construction and two days devoted to orientation and cultural experiences.
Every Global Village trip is different, but you can expect to gain a unique set of experiences and memories. Volunteers form once-in-a-lifetime friendships as they travel, live, work, and eat together.
Make Global Friends
As a Global Village volunteer, you will work alongside members of the host community in building decent, affordable homes. Your active partnership will help raise awareness of the burden of poverty housing and create a true global village of love, community, homes, and hope.
No Experience Necessary
Habitat’s Global Village volunteer program welcomes all who want to make a difference by picking up a hammer and helping to change lives. There is no maximum age limit. Many of the trips require strenuous manual labor, so all participants should be in good health.
